A benevolent yeti visits Vermont.

We’ve been having cold snap after cold snap this winter. While it makes us all shiver, the beauty of it is the perfect, crystalline powder that has graced our slopes.  Vermont may have the best skiing in the country right now!

Granted, snow storm Juno, much in the news this week, didn’t hit us as hard as Boston.  They have more snow than they know what to do with! I’ve heard that the plowed snow has reached the height of the telephone lines.  Also much in the news is the Boston Yeti.  Multiple sightings occurred within hours of the storm Juno.

So, yetis are on everyone’s radar.  I’m sure after so much terrible Boston traffic, he would be relieved to get out of the city, and come up to Vermont, maybe even stopping in at a certain gear shop to stock up for his trip back north.

In keeping with the desire to celebrate winter, rather than yearn for spring, I created a benevolent skiing yeti to encourage smiles.

The sidewalk chalkboard gets weekly sale updates, but I try to spice up the imagery a bit.

We do still have customers asking for cotton.  It’s about time we have a display describing the benefits and drawbacks of certain materials.

IMG_1385   With our router, I have carved a sign for my “Most Valuable Gear”” display at the entryway to the shop.  The intention is to create a decompression zone for customers to gather, socialize, and gather their things. Rather than the immediate bombardment with choices, we make choices for the customer. This zone is especially crucial in the busy, holiday months.

The birch branches were gathered in Starksboro after a beaver actually took a whole tree down.  You may notice the bite marks on some of the branches – they weren’t faked.
